Firefighters are potentially exposed to a wide range of dangerous particles through their work – some of which are carcinogens. As we see it, that’s a cause for concern – and it’s also something that European-based protective clothing manufacturer VIKING Life-saving Equipment is working on, too.

It's simple. We see things, do things, and experience things that MOST people only see in movies and tv shows. Even then, it isn't real and it is digestible for the view audience. We see the real thing. Those are our experiences. We have to live with it. We have to be able to deal with it.

It is what we see, hear, smell, feel, and touch on calls that shape our thoughts and feelings. Those same thoughts and feelings that may have not changed in years. After horrific calls, we are left with these experiences, changing feelings, and new thoughts towards life, death and everything in between.

If we continue to drive within reason, continue to focus on apparatus design to keep us safe, and wear our seatbelts we might be able to meet the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation goal of reducing LODD's (#reduceLODDS).
