Forest, VA Engine Overturns While Responding to House Fire in Bedford County

VAFireNews.com alerted me this morning to an engine overturning very close to me.

The Forest Volunteer Fire Company #5 in Bedford County, VA had an engine (Pumper 5) overturn on the way to a fire this morning.

Six firefighters were on the engine at the time. Three or Four of them were transported for injuries. Two of them remain in the hospital.

Virginia State Police just released the names of the firefighters involved in the crash.  They are:

  • Monty Coleman, 40, Forest (Driver)
  • Adrian Blazejewicz, 28, Forest
  • Jared Staton, 23, Forest
  • Brad Ellis, 26, Forest
  • Zach Coleman, 18, Forest
  • Juvenile, 17, Forest

At 6:33 am this morning, Pumper 5 was heading south on New London Road. Near New London Steak House, it went off the side of the road and the driver overcorrected.
