Streamlight Vantage® II Ultra-Compact Helmet Mounted Light – Product Snapshot

TheFireStore.com recently sent me a Vantage® II Ultra-Compact Helmet Mounted Light to try out on the job. I have admitted before that I am not the biggest fan of helmet mounted lights due to the weight it adds to the helmet on one side making my helmet lop-sided on my head. However, the last helmet mounted light I wore on my helmet for the better part of a year and didn’t mind it. The best news is that this one is lower profile and lighter than the old one.

Here is my rundown on the light…

• Attaches with one tension screw (doesn’t require a hole in the helmet, just clamps with a screw)
• The attachment seems to hold pretty well (other lights have loosened up due to use)
• Light-weight
• Requires only 1 of the CR123A batteries (I buy my batteries here)
• Low and high output modes
• Easy to turn on and off with a gloved hand

I think this might be a keeper. It seems as though Streamlight has done their homework with this one and produced a very effective helmet mounted light without compromising comfort, weight, or accessibility. I highly recommend this product if you are in the market for a helmet light!
