Rest Easy Brother Jerome “Tweet” Brady

Brothers and Sisters of the Fire Service, we have a hard job to do and suicide is unfortunately common among Firefighters, Police and EMS personnel. Don’t be afraid to reach out, call someone or seek help. You will not be judged for mental health issues, our job is tough and so are we but sometimes the people who give the help need the help too!

In a Department somewhere, in some company, a member is struggling…

Did you notice? Did ya see it? What did / will you do about it?

There are members all across this country who are struggling with one emotional battle or another. We struggle with these battles yet we continue to step into our boots, pull up our pants and put on our coats. We face personal, life and death  battles yet we continue to respond to the needs of others. We have committed our lives to helping total strangers yet we allow our own personal health and wellness to fall by the wayside . It doesn’t make sense.

Ireland – Court hears Dublin City firefighters gear ‘faulty’

The Irish Fire and Emergency Service Association told the High Court it is extremely concerned about “regular failures” of the Scott ACS FX BA breathing apparatus, supplied by Dublin City Council.

Firefighters require the equipment so they can breathe freely in smoke filled environments.

It says that matters were brought to a head earlier this month when the breathing equipment being used by two firefighters failed while they were tacking a blaze in Thomas Court, off Thomas Street, Dublin 8.

Fire Behavior or Firefighter Behavior? Pennsylvania House Fire Video

Our views must be balanced to include what may happen, what is obviously happening and why it is happening. The video of a house fire in Dunmore, Pennsylvania last week became popular as it was viewed on the various blogs and Facebook pages. The theme of discussion among some of those was the fire’s behavior, notably the flashover.

Bruce Springsteen’s son graduates Monmouth County, NJ Fire Academy

You have to wonder what nickname firefighters at New Jersey’s Colts Neck Fire Department will create for 20-year-old Sam Springsteen now that he has graduated the Firefighter 1 course at the Monmouth County Fire Academy. Springsteen graduated with class 101 a week ago with his father and mother (Patti Scialfa) at the ceremony.

Fire chief: 8-year-old boy saves 6 in family but dies helping disabled uncle

News10NBC is learning more about three people who were killed in a mobile home fire in Penfield Monday morning. One of the victims is an eight-year-old boy, who gave his own life to try and save his family. Many people are calling that young boy a hero. Fire officials believe he escaped the fire, but went back in to help rescue others trapped inside. Not only are people in the neighborhood where this happened remembering eight-year-old Tyler Doohan, but so are his teachers and friends in the East Rochester School District, where Tyler was in fourth grade.

Brotherhood: Tennessee to Michigan

Within the last week, things seems to be really taking off. This seems to be a few of the busiest weeks that I’ve have had in quite a while, but it’s a good type of busy. I’ve been writing quite a bit lately, and know that I will have lot’s of events to write about that will be taking place within the next week. The brotherhood seems to be more apparent and alive than ever! It’s great to have that support no matter which way you turn.

Indianapolis firefighters help Indiana State Police catch fleeing suspect

Indianapolis firefighters on their way to a medical emergency ran head-on into an emergency of another kind early Monday — a police chase.

Ladder truck No. 27 was roaring down Ludlow Avenue near 16th Street when firefighters spotted a man running toward them, waving his arms. Several feet behind him was an Indiana State Police trooper with his gun drawn.
