LODD – Marshfield, MO Lt. Matthew Blankenship Succumbs to Burns from July 13th Fire

Marshfield, Missouri Fire Department Lieutenant Matthew Blankenship died as a result of burns he sustained at a house fire on July 13th in Niangua. Blankenship had been in critical condition at Mercy Burn Unit.

Firefighter Nation reported on the death of Lt. Blankenship yesterday. Previous coverage on FFN reported that 3 firefighters were injured in the fire.

 The Marshfield Fire Department says he and another firefighter were briefly trapped in the home when conditions quickly deteriorated.

Other firefighters rescued Blankenship, and he was immediately taken to the hospital. The other firefighter trapped with him escaped with minor injuries.
