I announced the winner via email and Facebook on Sunday, but wanted to take the opportunity to thank the thousands who entered the giveaway. I also want to thank Leatherhead Projects for providing the helmet, shield, and customization. Leatherhead Projects is a great source of quality custom leatherwork.

The Fire Critic and Leatherhead Projects have teamed up for a one of a kind giveaway. We are giving away a one-off custom Phenix TL2 Leather Helmet. The helmet is being customized by Leatherhead Projects. Scroll down for information on Leatherhead Projects, the helmet being given away, and rules/regulations.

He has had an excellent start to the contest. Firefighters from across the Nation have submitted pictures. He has heard from some as far away as Spain, but no pics from their yet. All the entries will be put in a hat and the winner will be pulled (and captured on video) by a special guest.

This years Blog of the Year contest has begun. This years contest is "Black Diamond Fire and EMS Blog of the Year 2010-2011". Nominations will continue until midnight on January 19th (EST). This year, we will be awarding the Fire Blog of the Year as well as the EMS Blog of the Year.

The winner of the Thanksgiving Day Giveaway is Kingsport, TN Station 6. Their submission is below. I will be honest, I had the guys at the station pick a number without knowing what the number was for. Kingsport is the winner. They have won a complete set of Emergency Services Monopoly including the Firefighter, EMS, and Law Enforcement versions.

A complete set of 3 games. This includes one game each of Firefighter Monopoly, EMS Monopoly, and Law Enforcement Monopoly. The games are the prize. No cash value. The giveaway ends at 8pm on November 25, 2010. This page will be updated throughout the day with entries. How do we participate in the giveaway? Simply send a picture of you or your crew working/volunteering on Thanksgiving (this year). The picture can be your crew eating, your crew on a call, posing in front of the station, posing in front of the truck, etc.

It is my honor (or honour) to announce Medic 999 as the Fire/EMS Blog of the Year for 2009. Medic 999 is run by Mark Glencorse who is a Paramedic for the North East Ambulance Service in England.

Just a reminder that nominations will close at 1459 hours (2:59 pm) tomorrow, January 5th. Once our judges pick the ten finalists, voting will begin tomorrow evening at 2359 hours (11:59 pm).

All you have to do is share your favorite recipe for Thanksgiving. It could be a special turkey recipe, secret stuffing recipe, grandmas corn pudding, or grandpa's after dinner drink. Share the recipe in hopes that it helps the crews who work this Christmas make an unforgettable meal.
