It is no secret that I am a huge fan of what the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation stands for. I attempt to support the NFFF at every chance I get. I have yet to participate in an NFFF Memorial Golf Tournament, but it is on my list of things to do. What I have been able to do is complete many 9/11 Memorial Stair Climbs including climbs in Baltimore, PG County, Atlanta, FDIC, to name a few including an unofficial climb in a property next to ground zero in New York City. On top of that, I try to register for several climbs throughout the year that I know I won’t be able to be at in a way of continuing to support financially.

This year, for the first time, Roanoke, VA (my hometown) will be hosting an NFFF 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb. The climb will be in the tallest building in Roanoke, the Wells Fargo Tower. The event is spear-headed by FF Peter Matthiessen, and I know it is in capable hands.

While the planning of the event is ongoing, the sign-up is open and there will only be 343 climbers. I suggest you sign up early!

And if you are wondering if I will be climbing, I have good and bad news. The bad news is that I will not be in Roanoke during the weekend of September 11th. The good news is that I will be with Captain Wines in South Dakota with all of my closest SD Brothers spending time with them.
