Video above by: . Video below by: . Video info: At 19:44 Tuesday evening, Lehigh County Fire Radio dispatched Station 2 and North Catasauqua Engine 18 to the area of 12th and Bath Avenue on a house fire. Chief 2 signed on responding and was updated that an attached garage was on fire.

Police car 29 arrived in the area and reported smoke showing at 12th and Bethlehem Road. Chief 2 arrived and reported a working fire at 549 Bethlehem Road and requested Greenawalds Rescue 11 as the designated F.A.S.T. company.

Ladder 231 arrived at 19:53 and positioned on 12th Street (The “bravo” side) and Engine 211 arrived behind the ladder and positioned on Bethlehem Road in front of the fire building and Rescue 241 at the corner of 12th and Bethlehem Road. Firefighters were confronted with heavy fire conditions to the rear of the house as the porch was fully involved and rapidly extending into the 1-story dwelling. Engine 18 arrived at 19:55.

Engine members advanced through the front door and commenced an aggressive attack. As the fire extended into the attic area, command pulled the firefighters out of the house and went to an exterior attack using the deck gun on Engine 211 and the elevated master stream on Ladder 231. The two master streams were used to darken down the bulk of the fire. The fire was contained to the “delta” side of the home which consisted of the garage and kitchen area. Command held the fire to all hands working on the 1st alarm.

Everyone was out of the dwelling. No injuries were reported. Firefighters were on the scene for 4 hours overhauling.

I agree with the interior line to try to limit interior extension. But also get an exterior line working to reduce the heat and reduce flame exposure into the attic and interior. They could be operated without being opposing lines.

Don’t know about the guy running around knocking all the Windows out…just giving that fire on the inside what it wants to grow…

That was really dumb on his part. He just took windows on the opposite side of the structure that’s not involved… yet. If you take a window fully clear it for egress purposes as well. Back to basics
