Breaking News: Richmond FD (VA) Engine 22 Found an Hour After Reported Stolen This Morning

The apparatus was found about an hour after being reported stolen. It was confirmed that the stolen apparatus was engine 22.

TimesDispatch.com:

Lepley said the truck, built by Pierce Manufacturing, is a smaller-body model that is slightly larger than an ambulance. It is red and has No. 22 and the city fire department logo on its sides.

Crime-scene technicians were called and tried to see if they could find fingerprints or other evidence that might help them develop leads in the search for suspects.

Update via NBC12:

Police got a call at 9:02 a.m. that a fire truck was missing from the garage at 1650 Commerce Road. The truck was found less than an hour later at 1615 Commerce Road.

The police department says it exhausted its resources trying to locate the truck, using units on the ground and flying a plane overhead. Officers in nearby areas were notified to be on the lookout for the stolen truck.

The Richmond Fire Department has reported one of their apparatus was stolen from the City garage this morning. The unit stolen is not believed to be a quint. It is believed to be one of their engines. While the department operates a Quint Concept Fire Department, the fleet is supplemented with smaller engines to keep the wear and tear down on the quints.

Richmond Police officers are searching for a city fire truck stolen from the city’s garage.

Police say they got a call at 9:02 a.m. that a fire truck was missing from the garage at 1650 Commerce Road. They say the truck is a smaller engine, but still has hoses and pumping capability.
