PIO Cam: House Fire in Prince George’s County, MD

At about 1:15 pm, Thursday, October 2, Firefighters arrived at this 2-story single family home in the 9200 block of Gary Lane, Springdale, with smoke showing from the roof and fire showing fron the C/D corner. Firefighters extinguished the 2nd floor bedroom fire within 10 minutes of arrival. All searched were negative and no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

PIO Cam: 2 Alarm Apartment Fire in Prince George’s County, MD

At about 11:15 am, Wednesday, September 10, 2014 firefighters responded to a report of a fire in an apartment building. First arriving units in the 6800 block of Riverdale Road encountered a 3-story with a terrace level apartment building with smoke showing. It appears a fire started in a utility room on the terrace level. Workers were using an acetylene torch while working to remove an old boiler. Combustibles ignited in the pipe chase area with fire extending to the upper floors by way of interior walls.

Firefighters Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Across the Nation

Across the Nation, Firefighters are wearing pink for breast cancer awareness. Wearing pink may not seem like a big deal to the public, changing from the normal department issued uniform T-shirt or polo rarely happens. When I say rarely...this is the first time in my 12 years at my department that I have worn anything but my navy blue t-shirt or class A or B uniform. It is commendable that Fire Chiefs have realized the good of the campaigns and allowed firefighters to wear pink.
