Fire Critic An Unadulterated View of the Fire Service
This weeks Monday Morning Shoutout goes to SCONFIRE.COM. SCONFIRE.COM is a State News web site that has reinvented itself on FireEMSBlogs.com. The site is celebrating its 10th year online. It is run by Grant Mishoe.
Grant and I first met online when I began VAFireNews.com. I had some questions so I shot him an email. We have been friends online ever since (that was about 5 years ago). What amazed me was how helpful he was with answering my questions and how excited he was that I was starting my site. In retrospect, that warm welcome he shared with me is something I will always remember and I have continued to welcome other State News web sites the same way.
The guys who run many of the State News web sites have an online relationship and we share trade secrets back and forth. None of us know all there is to know, but we share our trial and error tips back and forth.
I must admit that I was skeptical of doing a State News web site in a traditional blogging platform. Most of us utilize wordpress or some form of content management system but don’t use the post after post layout of a blog. It seems to be working very well though.
Grant and I are also business partners with Jeff Harkey (FireNews.net) in USAFireTrucks.com. We created the site to advertise apparatus for sale. It is a tool that afforded us to be able to streamline all of the apparatus for sale ads from our respective sites.
