Fire Critic An Unadulterated View of the Fire Service
I have to admit…I am a huge fan of BillyG. I have not heard him speak in person, but I have spoken through email with him. He is very approachable. BillyG serves a great role in our Fire Service today. The Secret List and FirefighterCloseCalls.com are excellent examples of learning tools for today’s firefighter.
I lived my first several years in BillyG’s first due. I have to wonder if we had stayed in Loveland, Ohio would I be working for him today. The area now known as “Loveland-Symmes” is where BillyG is a Deputy Chief.
The thing I really like about this video is how BillyG states “some of them died heroically, but some of them did not have to die” when talking about LODD’s in fires.
One big issue I have with some organizations is there inability to admit that some firefighters are going to die and that is just the way it is. We know it. We knew it when we got this job. Our profession is inherently dangerous. That being said, let us keep working on decreasing the needless LODD’s through the Life Safety Initiatives.
