Some of the families of 19 firefighters who died in the line of duty in Prescott, AZ are being denied benefits they thought they would be getting. Is the City of Prescott to blame, or did the Fire Service fail them?

On June 30th, 19 Prescott, AZ Professional Firefighters died while operating as a part of the Granite Mountain Hotshots. They died while fighting a fire in Yarnell Hill, AZ. On July 9th, a very fitting memorial service was held to honor the lives of our fallen brothers.

Watch live coverage of the Memorial on FireCritic.com: On Tuesday, all 19 firefighters will be honored at a memorial. The Granite Mountain Hotshots survivor, Brendan McDonough is slated to read the Hotshot's prayer during the service at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.

All of the funds donated to the Yarnell Hill NFFF Fire Hero Fund will be used by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to provide long term programs and assistance to the families and the coworkers of the firefighters who died in Yarnell, Arizona.

The city of Prescott has released the names of the 19 firefighters who were killed in the Yarnell Hill Fire Sunday night.

There will be a 10am press conference in the morning at the Prescott Council Chambers to give some more detail on the incident at the Yarnell Hill Fire. The crew that was deployed had 20 hotshot members. 19 of them have died after being overrun by fire.

Here is a short video that gives you the first person point of view experiencing a water drop from a helicopter a couple of hundred feet above you. Figuring that the water more than likely comes from a lake, that is probably pretty refreshing for the firefighters! Just as long as the helicopter didn't accidentally pick up any SCUBA divers when he got the water!

When I think of exposures I think of houses nearby or maybe a propane tank. Sometimes this means the apartment next door or above. Never has it occurred to me that the exposure could be the countryside. As you can see in this video, their exposure is the potential of this house fire turning into a brush fire or wildfire that could consume acres of land and other houses.
