L.A. River Rescue LOS ANGELES -- A man who apparently jumped into the rain-swollen Los Angeles River was pulled to safety by a rescue helicopter Sunday. The man was seen jumping or walking into the river near a bridge east of downtown just before 8 a.m., according to L.A. Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott.
