When I got hired at my current department I was sent to station #9 after recruit school. The first engine I rode was a 1990 KME ...nothing special, just your typical engine. Actually, it is kinda special in that it was one of the last engines in Roanoke without an enclosed cab. That was fun...when the weather was warm and dry!

Roanoke Firefighters battled a fire at the Days Inn near the Roanoke Civic Center today. They are still on scene hitting the hot spots. The hotel was apparently undergoing renovations. There were no guests in the hotel at the time of the fire. The fire closed down route 460 in both directions right at Williamson Road for hours. The fire even made it on CNN today.

I am mostly posting this because Wines was in on the fire and the fact that we don't get much video of our fires. There aren't any buffs in the area like in the Northeast. We take what we can get and every once in a while a neighbor films a short video like the one below.
