8 structures, including garages, sheds were either destroyed or damaged on the afternoon of Sunday April 7th 2013 on Harrison St. A 3rd alarm was struck on arrival and a 4th alarm was transmitted shortly after.

Arriving companies found heavy fire in the basement rapidly extending to the upper floors. About 20 minutes into the fire, firefighters had to evacuate the building because of deteriorating conditions. They then quickly knocked the heavy overlapping fire down from the exterior and went back in and finished knocking it down.

All 125 Woonsocket, Rhode Island firefightes are working a huge fire at a mill this evening. The large 4 story building caught fire Tuesday evening. Firefighters from nearby departments were also called in to help. Mutual aid departments from Bellingham and Blackstone in Massachusetts also responded.

Today, Woonsocket Firefighters battled a 3 alarm fire through the roof in a triple decker with extension into one of the exposures. I just got finished reading the chapter on Michael Goff in "Last Alarm" by Jerry Laughlin. The book was published in 1986 and features 5 true stories about firefighters who died in the line of duty. Michael Goff, a Petersburg (VA) Sergeant was killed when a wall collapsed on him following an explosion at an apartment complex. The explosion also injured many firefighters, EMT's, and civilians (some who had just been rescued).
