The video above might be the last from Scott Ziegler of Highland Park, MI. Scott has been patiently waiting for his chance to work for the Detroit Fire Department. His 10 year wait to get hired ends in a couple of days. Scott was hired by Detroit and is looking forward to it.

We arrived to find fire showing from one room on the 4th floor of a very large vacant apt building. Fire was on the B side, towards the rear of the building. Upon arrival, a you will hear, a man comes out of the building to confess that he set the fire.

We received a box alarm right around shift change, so I decided to jump on the engine since I had not gone home yet. The report came in as a fire in a vacant dwelling. We arrived to find fire on the second floor in one bedroom.

There is no question that Highland Park, Mi Firefighters see a lot of fire. Much like the City of Detroit, which surrounds Highland Park, they have some serious obstacles.

Responded at shift change to a report of smoke in the area of elmhurst and 3rd. Arrived to find a very well involved dwelling. Our initial plan was to go in on tank water while the FEO hooked up to the hydrant across the street. That hydrant did not work.
