The Unity Church of God in Christ burned on Saturday in Chicago's West Side.

On Saturday, Chicago firefighters battled an extra alarm fire at the New Life Temple Church of God in Chirst around 6 am. On Sunday, Chicago firefighters battled a house fire with a mayday after a firefighter was briefly trapped in a collapsed stairwell. Audio below.

Chicago, Illinois Lieutenant Patrick Hannon was found unresponsive at his firehouse and later died in the hospital. Hannon, 51, was working at Truck 8 at 2528 S. Throop Street at the time (4th District, 15th Battalion) Hannon was a 22 year veteran of the department and was hired in December 1988. He leaves behind a wife and two children. His wife is also a firefighter/paramedic for the Chicago Fire Department.

Ankum was one of two Chicago firefighters killed in a Dec. 22 blaze inside a vacant laundry building. Mayor Daley called Ankum a "hero" and a "true defender in every sense of the word." "Corey Ankum was a natural born leader, a good young man, a family man, and a spectacular father," Daley said. "We will miss you, Corey. You are a brother in blue."
