Tonight, over 100 firefighters made their way to Firehouse #6 to shave their heads in solidarity with Tyler and his family. Tyler was in attendance.

You should read the story. FDNY hasn't willingly opened its doors to felons. As a matter of fact, the city's notice to applicants still states that convicted felons "are not eligible for appointment to this position."

A year ago today, I was in New York City, right next to Ground Zero...In one of the hotels that overlooks the site. I climbed to remember. I was honored to climb 110 stories within feet of where our Brothers climbed on September 11th. The same Brothers we continue to climb for each year.

The benefit was first and foremost about the Brotherhood in SD, and the firefighters having a good time. The byproduct of that was to raise money for the National Firefighters endowment and the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.

What is the Brotherhood? To me it is many things, but in reality it is only one.... If you were to take a firefighter and strip them of their badge, remove their turnout gear, peel their skin back, and remove the organs, the brotherhood is that small fire that continues to burn inside of them.
