This years Christmas gifts list is coming out just in time. This year, I tried to focus on more affordable gift ideas than helmets and boots I have always had on the list in the past. I was first introduced to The Rescue Wedge at FDIC. I was impressed. I typically carry wooden door wedges in my gear, The Rescue Wedge is also lightweight and something that will out-live my firefighting career...as long as I don't lose it! It's aluminum, made in the USA by firefighters for firefighters, and lightweight...what more could you ask for?

At FDIC this year, I was introduced to the Fire Hose Belt made by Optix International. These belts are made by firefighters from hose that was in service, and made in the USA. A portion of the proceeds goes back to the fire department where the hose comes from. Currently, there are plenty of colors from various fire departments to choose from.
