At about 5:15 pm companies were dispatched to the unit block of 69th st for smoke from a building (IN THE AREA). Companies arrived to find smoke pushing from several businesses. Interior crews experienced heavy smoke and high heat but could not locate the seat of the fire. Shortly after crews made entry heavy fire began venting from the rear. A second alarm was struck. Crews were not making very good progress but continued the interior attack until they had a partial roof collapse. Upper Darby 9 evacuated the roof and shortly after that he evacuated the building and began an exterior attack. In all 4 alarms were called + several special requests. Multiple handlines, deck guns, and elevated master streams were used to control the fire. At least 1 firefighter was injured and had to be brought down via a tower ladder.
