Video: LAFD Commercial Fire in Boyle Heights District

Video by: firelensman. Video info: 10-19-2014 Los Angeles Firefighters first on scene at “Barrios Casting Company” (a metal casting business) had fire and smoke showing from a 7200 square ft. one story commercial building in L.A.’s Boyle Heights district. There were reports LAPD Officers on “routine” patrol noticing the building on fire at 1459 S. Lorena Street and called it in. Firefighters forced entry through rolling steel doors and encountered heavy fire conditions. Firefighters were ordered off the roof and out of the building as heavy fire engulfed the structure. LA Firefighters then went defensive, knocking down the flames with several hand-lines, a wagon battery and two ladder pipes. Fire/Rescue personnel also handled and restrained two “flipped out” friendly pit bull dogs, keeping them from running in between the apparatus and bumping into busy Firefighters. The dogs may have been guard dogs. There were no reported injuries, the main bulk of fire was knocked down in an hours time. Firefighters protecting adjacent exposures kept the fire to the building of origin. The cause of the intense late night blaze is under investigation. Smoke from the fire could be seen throughout East Los Angeles. -MNR-
