A four-alarm fire burning in downtown Salt Lake City near 550 South and 500 East appears to be mostly under control after it began burning earlier Sunday evening. It’s not confirmed what exactly is burning, though eyewitnesses on KUTV reported it could be an apartment building in the area.
A construction crane also was reportedly melting over the building because of the heat from the fire. As of 6:45 p.m., the blaze was visible from blocks away on all sides and was upgraded from a three-alarm to a four-alarm fire around 6:30 p.m., according to the Salt Lake City Fire Twitter account.
