To celebrate their 40th successful year in business Phenix Technology, Inc., also known as Phenix Fire Helmets, is giving away NFPA compliant firefighter helmets to two fire departments. Working with the National Firefighters Endowment, a California based 501(C)3 who has provided assistance to hundreds of firefighters throughout the United States, and Eye Safety Systems (ESS), Phenix initiated a photo contest to help identify a deserving department on the popular social media website Facebook. The contest ran until March 1, 2013, at which time the top ten vote receiving departments were identified as finalists. From March 1, 2013 to April 1, 2013 finalists were able to submit supporting documentation describing in detail why they needed and deserved the helmets. Principles of each company then worked together to choose a winner. The winner was announced during FDIC 2013 in Indianapolis. After reviewing the ten finalists, Phenix Technology, Inc. decided that they would increase their donation in an effort to help two departments instead of just one.
“While we were not able to donate helmets to all of the finalists, we couldn’t just stop at the original 40. We decided to expand our donation to include two departments that showed true need. We are excited to be able to visit with these departments and deliver the helmets in person,” says Angel Sanchez, Jr., Chief Operating Officer of Phenix Fire Helmets.
The winning department chose Traditional Composite helmets that were built to NFPA compliant standards and will include goggles provided courtesy of Eye Safety Systems (ESS).
Phenix Technology, Inc. representatives will first visit the Wears Valley Fire Department located at 3339 Mattox Cemetery Rd in Sevierville, Tennessee to deliver their helmets on Saturday, July 13th at 10:00AM. Then after spending a few days at the Tennessee Fire Chiefs Association Meeting, they will travel to Ozark, Missouri to present new fire helmets to the Ozark Fire Protection District. The helmets will be awarded at 6:00PM on Tuesday, July 16 at Ozark Station 1 located at 604 N. 3rd Street in Ozark, MO.
