Beer Gifting Citizen Apologizes to DC Firefighters Who Still Await Discipline

Dave Statter had the story last week about a Washington DC firehouse that was shut down by Fire Chief Kenneth Ellerbe after a case of beer was found in the fridge. The firefighters were tested for alchohol and all came up negative. However, the firefighters still face discipline for having the beer. Now, Clem Cypra has come forward as the gift-giver. Cypra brought it to them after they put a fire in his house.

IAFF LODD – Funeral Coverage for Matt Durham Local L2950, Woodinville, Washington

Before dying of cancer at just 45 a week and a half ago, Matt Durham helped plan his own formal line-of-duty memorial service, according to one of his fellow Woodinville Fire and Rescue firefighters speaking at that service today. “I want to do it for the boys,” Battalion Chief Greg Ahearn quoted Matt as saying – so that his young sons would see the support and the love showed by their father’s firefighter family, as well as that of their own relatives and friends.

Massive fire on South Main Street in downtown Mount Vernon, Ohio

The Mount Vernon Fire Department responded to a call of light smoke coming from the basement of the building on the southwest corner of South Main and West Gambier streets at approximately 6:30 a.m. According to MVFD Assistant Chief Chris Menapace, the fire started in the basement of the building which is used for storage. A gas line ruptured, which helped fuel the fire, Menapace said.
