Firefighters Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Across the Nation

Across the Nation, Firefighters are wearing pink for breast cancer awareness. Wearing pink may not seem like a big deal to the public, changing from the normal department issued uniform T-shirt or polo rarely happens. When I say rarely...this is the first time in my 12 years at my department that I have worn anything but my navy blue t-shirt or class A or B uniform. It is commendable that Fire Chiefs have realized the good of the campaigns and allowed firefighters to wear pink.

Book Review – Capitol City Fireman by Jake Rixner

Jake tells great stories about fires fought in Richmond. Many of the firefighters Jake writes about were true characters. Firefighters who stand out in their personalities and abilities. The firehouse tales told in the book are ones that firefighters across the Nation can relate... and that if they were to happen this day in age we would be fired.

Monday Morning Shoutout – PGFD PIO Blog

This week's Monday Morning Shoutout goes to the PGFD PIO Blog. Mark Brady is the PIO for Prince George's County Fire Department in Maryland. His job, in my eyes, is one of the most difficult FD PIO jobs in the Nation. Why the most difficult? In my eyes because of the sheer size of the County, number of departments, it being a combination department, as well as many of the news stories and scandals that have occurred there.
