Last night, March 5th, a semi-tractor trailer lost control and drove through an accident scene on I-39 near mile marker 6 in Hudson, IL. The semi collided with three emergency vehicles and struck/injured 6 Hudson Firefighters. One of those members succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Conditions quickly deteriorate and the last firefighter out is hit by a falling truss according to the video.

On Thursday December 20, 2012, The first winter storm of 2012 blew threw Mchenry with high winds, cold gusts and moderate snow. At 9pm, a report that sparks were seen along side the historical downtown Mchenry building where Windy City Wings was located came in to 911.

This house fire occured at 525 W. Armitage in the Lincoln Park area of Chicago, Illinois. Bystanders caught some early video as lines are being placed in service. The fire quickly makes its way to the second floor and eventually engulfs much of the structure by the time firefighters get attack lines in place. Later, news crews catch the building collapsing (second video)

This is a bit of a long post...and it involves plenty of video. I got in front of the computer searching for what fires were caught on video and uploaded to Youtube...and I found a ton!

The Pinckneyville, Illinois Fire Chief's son, Firefighter Corey Shaw, was killed in a collapse at a multi-alarm fire Friday morning. The fire occured at an antique mall which spread to the Opera House next door. Corey, 22, was killed when operating on a ladder. The fire consumed the Pinckneyville Antique Mall and the Kunz Opera House.

This video of a house fire shows why we take an axe to ventilate the roof in case the saw quits. One firefighter is going to work with an axe, while the other it trying to get a saw going. Of course, we can't tell if the saw stalled on the roof or if the firefighter forgot to start it on the ground before making his way to the roof (recommended). Luckily, another firefighter brings a second saw to the roof to finish the cut.

Chicago, Illinois Lieutenant Patrick Hannon was found unresponsive at his firehouse and later died in the hospital. Hannon, 51, was working at Truck 8 at 2528 S. Throop Street at the time (4th District, 15th Battalion) Hannon was a 22 year veteran of the department and was hired in December 1988. He leaves behind a wife and two children. His wife is also a firefighter/paramedic for the Chicago Fire Department.
