Come see Superman & Lex Luthor together: Or maybe it's more like Austin Powers & Dr. Evil. Dave Statter meets Rhett Fleitz. Somehow I ended up on the same bill with THE Fire Critic at the Ohio Fire & Emergency Services Foundation's 2012 Leadership Conference.

Here are just some of the highlights of the trip. We could have fun at an Occupy event...oh wait, we have done that as well. The plans for the year keep filling up. We have scheduled visits, or ones in the works, in North Carolina, Ohio, New Jersey, and South Dakota already. We also plan on being at FDIC, FRI, and Firehouse Expo...Harrisburg maybe as well. Speaking of travel, I will be in Nashville on the weekend of Feb. 17th if anyone wants to meet up!

Some black applicants will be getting house calls by the Vulcan Society to help them complete their incomplete applications. This was approved by a Court Monitor. We are talking about over 2000 house calls! Keep in mind that 52% of the applicants are black.

Yeah, they made a pot of coffee. It meant the world to me. One F$%#in cup of coffee was all I needed. If you remember, I have been kicking myself since our last trip for NOT drinking the cup of coffee I was offered. This time I drank it...and they opened up to us more as time went on.

3 alarm fire at 4945 Broadway in Manhattan, NY. FDNY Firefighters battle this building fire that might have been started by "illegal nighttime welding". 138 firefighters from 33 units fought the fire for about 4 hours.

Below is the amazing video of an FDNY Firefighter from Rescue 2 bailing out of a window onto an aerial ladder. The firefighter is in flames as he gets out of the building and another firefighter helps put out the flames. Check out STATter911.com for more details on this fire. In total, 5 firefighters were injured in this fire with some experiencing severe burns.

I also got to do a ton more traveling this year. Willie Wines Jr. and I are thankful for all of the doors opened to us. The people we got to meet and hang out with in NYC, New Jersey, Cincinnati, Wyoming (city), Loveland, Mason, Johns Creek, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Baltimore, Emmitsburg, Prince George's County, and elsewhere along the way. You guys have been great. Thank you for all you have done to make our trips worth it.

I held on to the railing at St. Paul's and said a little prayer. I wasn't there to make a difference. I was there to complete my understanding of an event that has changed my life and I was not alone. Willie put it best: "Rhett and I made eye contact and without saying knew… “THIS” has been our destination for the past 10 years."
