Video: LAFD Battle House Fatal House Fire

Video by: firelensman. Video info: 1-10-2018 LAFD 26’s & 15’s first on scene at 1711 South New Hampshire Avenue reported fire showing from the second floor of a large two story house. With flames showing on the the south side and heavy smoke pushing from the front Los Angeles Firefighters forced entry on the second floor, attacking the fire with several handlines. Firefighters also had a line on the fire side, cooling down the flames lapping out of windows threatening an exposure. The fire extended to a small portion of the attic above, forcing Firefighters to drop-bag and stretch a roof line above. The main bulk of fire was knocked down in 45 minutes. Firefighters discovered a deceased person in the fire structure. The cause of the deadly early morning blaze is under investigation. – MNR –

The flames were contained to a single unit of the building and were doused in about 45 minutes.

Firefighters conducted a search of the building and found one person, who was pronounced dead at the scene, Humphrey said.

The person’s identity has not been released.
