Video by: vfd173. Video info: With the Vista FD’s main engine, Engine 141, out of service, they are forced to respond with only a 2 man engine. The 2 firefighters on the engine began stretching 150′ of 1 ¾ attack line. While they were stretching out the hose, the power lines from the house fell to ground making the stretch very difficult and making the firefighters dump the hose they had and begin to flake backwards towards the engine. Communication problems from the engine crew to the MPO also occurred. The incoming mutual aid engine from the South Salem Fire Department attempted to reach the engine crew from Vista to help them get the first line into operation but were unsuccessful due to the downed wires. The homeowners had the windows open, and when they began to smell smoke, panicked and opened up the sliding door on the back side of the home and the front door, the C side of the house was fully involved so crews tried to push the fire from the A side to the C side, an attempt to close the front door was made to control the fire but was unsuccessful due to the glass being melted out of the door Vista engine 142, Tanker 4 arrive on scene to find heavy smoke pushing from a 50X40, 2 story wood frame structure with exposure problems on the D side. Camera footage was taken by E142 nozzleman with a FireCam1080P.
