A little Father and Son Time… Video: RV Fire at the Roanoke Civic Center (2 Videos)

Yesterday, Preston (my son) and me had a neat little side trip on our way from point A to point B. As we got off the interstate downtown, we saw a column of smoke coming from the Civic Center. At first, I thought it was coming out of the large sub-level entry into the building, but then realized it was coming from the center of a pack of buses, trailers, and RV’s. My son Preston began videoing the fire and we took a trip around the block to get a better view.

The fire ended up burning one RV and damaging two others.

Captain Wines posted the videos yesterday while Preston and I were still at a school function. Read what he had to say here.

I am not one to get in the way, so we kept our distance. I did walk up to see if anyone needed help. I didn’t realize at the time that E1 had already arrived on the opposite side of the vehicles.

Preston had fun and enjoyed capturing the moment on video. Heck, he even corrected me on some of the apparatus who would be on their way. In the end, we saw E1, E2, E5, L2, L1, M1, M2, M5, BC1, and BC2 on the scene.

And yes…It was B-shift. It seems as though that is the shift to be on if you want to see fire around here!

It isn’t the best quality video, but it was a neat moment for my son and I.
