It is that time of year where I rank the top ten male firefighter calendars for the upcoming year. While this task is daunting, the reward is ranking the female firefighter calendars which will come out soon after this one. As you can imagine, there are more male firefighter calendars out there than female. Each year they get better and better…and each year some great charities (typically burn foundations) receive a lot of money from the profits of these calendars.
The list for 2014 Female Firefighter Calendars is here
I commend each of the men depicted in these calendars for taking the time to get fit or remain fit for the calendar. I know it is hard work. Thank you for all of the calendars who sent in a calendar for review…it makes this process easier.
If your department has a calendar, it helps if you send one to us for judging. Contact The Fire Critic at FireCritic@FireCritic.com

With the birth of Coats for Kids, we discovered there was a silent group in our community with great needs – families who were experiencing layoffs and dramatic losses of income, who did not qualify for aid. We reached out to local school social workers, teachers, local support agencies and firefighters to help us identify kids. We referred them for our special “shopping day with a firefighter.” Last year we served more than 500 children in Kansas.

1. Calgary HotStuff Firefighters Calendar
Web site – Facebook – Twitter – Purchase
#2 in 2013
Created by: Calgary Firefighters Burn Treatment Cenre
Info: The HotStuff Calendar began in the late 1980’s. It was created as a fundraiser to raise awareness for the Calgary Firefighters cherished charity, the Calgary Burn Treatment Centre. Larry, a firefighter and photographer organized and produced the early years of the calendar.
The firefighters who modeled for the calendar were originally selected as part of the Ladies Night Out event. They would do runway work and entice the female audience for their vote. Now the selections are made from volunteers. When there are more than 13 good-looking guys, we double up a few of the months as a bonus for the women buying the calendar.
The calendar has changed its look and size over the years and even had one edition that was black and white. The graphic designers have worked hard to give the calendar a strong look that goes beyond the normal calendar page.
In the last few years the Firefighters Museum Society Calgary have been supplying the old fire trucks and props used in the backgrounds. These guys are great, giving interesting histories on the gear used. Many of their stories have made it into the little side notes sprinkled throughout the older calendars.
The Hotstuff calendar has won many awards for its design and photography. It is considered one of the best firefighter calendars available and is hotly anticipated each year.
Below are some of the other calendars for the year.
Honorable Mentions: 2014 NYC Firefighter Calendar, 2014 FDNY Calendar of Heroes, Southside Firefighter Calendar, Tulsa Metro Firefighter's Calendar, New South Wales Firefighters Calendar, Colorado Springs Firefighter Calendar, Edmonton Firefighters Calendar
