Shepherdstown FD (WV) Gets Ready to Dedicate a New Engine 3

The Shepherdstown Fire Department (SFD) is thrilled to announce the dedication and placement into service of our new Engine 3 (pictured below). For two years the members of the Shepherdstown Fire Department have been planning and establishing the necessities to become a reality on this new Engine. Everything from the size of the water tank, to the placement of the flashlights has been a priority throughout the planning process. On December 16th, 2012 at 1pm the vision will become a reality as the members of the SFD will formally remove from service our 1989 Pierce Dash Engine, and replace it with our 2012 Pierce Velocity Engine. The ceremony will last approximately one hour and will include the formal removal of old Engine 3 and the formal wash and push in of new Engine 3. The surrounding community, mutual aid departments, and media outlets are strongly encouraged to attend this ceremony.

When: Sunday, December 16, 2012; 1:00pm
Where: Shepherdstown Fire Department
8052 Martinsburg Pike (Rt. 45), Shepherdstown, WV 25443
What: New Engine Dedication Ceremony

Our new Engine 3 has a 500 horse power motor with a 2,000 gallon per minute water pump and a tank that holds 750 gallons of water. She carries about 3,000 feet of fire hose, three ladders, and can transport six(6) firemen to the scene of an emergency in her state-of-the-art cabin. Fire hoses can be deployed from all four sides, and with seven(7) compartments, tools are efficiently stored. Designed with low hose beds and cross lays, this allows for quick, easy, aggressive deployment. Built as a firefighter friendly engine, we look forward to many years of service to the community with this fire engine.
