Knight Township FD has been in service for 28 years.

The video below shows them going out with a bang. They cruised through Knight Township lights and sirens blaring!

EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) – At midnight Saturday morning, the Evansville Fire Department officially took over emergency runs in Knight Township, but before the torch was passed Knight Township fire fighters responded to one final call.

The Knight Township Fire Department has been answering emergency calls in Evansville for the past 28 years, but their doors are now closed because of a lack of funding.

Firefighters say they won’t miss the service as much as they’ll miss each other.

The sirens of the emergency response vehicles blared one final time late Friday night as community members lined the streets in support. For volunteer firefighters, the community’s care meant a lot, but it didn’t mask the reality of what was happening.
