Blogfest 11 – Two Killed in Texas Fire No One Knew About

Check out this story of a house fire that snuffed all the oxygen and blew out a couple of windows but then smoldered out. The unfortunate thing is that two people were inside at the time of the fire and died. I have heard of this type of thing happening but never run a call like this myself.

To think that at one point the fire was probably at a perfect state for a backdraft.

A Smith County Sheriff’s deputy on a routine welfare check call found the bodies of a man and his wife who apparently died of smoke inhalation from a fire in the couple’s home which no one knew about.

Neighbors and family stand in front of the home of the scene where two bodies were discovered early this morning in eastern Smith County. The deaths are being investigated by the Smith County Fire Marshals office.

Family members of 58-year-old Lester Battee and his 60-year-old wife Nelda said they had tried to reach the couple all day Tuesday and became worried when the couple did not answer the phone.
